Most SMEs are financially fragile having less than one month of cash on hand (Bartik et al., 2020).
PROBLEM STATEMENT

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a major role in fostering growth, employment, income and have been integral to Malaysia’s economic transformation process. However, even though SMEs are major contributors to economic growth, they are often the most vulnerable when there are major public crises. The pandemic Covid-19 has badly affected the SME in Malaysia due to many factors.
SMEs lose daily income due to disrupted supply chains caused by the closure of supporting sectors, as well as a lack of workers and declining cash reserves. (Dzulkifli, 2020; Aling, 2020). On the demand side, an abrupt and immediate decrease in demand and income for SMEs seriously affects their capacity to perform and causes immense shortfalls of liquidity (Korankye, B. 2020)
Therefore, this study is to explore the factors affecting SME businesses’ business performance during Covid 19 in Langkawi Island, Malaysia.
